For me, Christmas has long included Claridges hotel. Whether that be for a pit-stop into the bar whilst shopping, popping in to look at their now famed Christmas Tree but saying for coffee in The Foyer or like above, going for cocktails at the Fumoir and dinner at FERA. There’s a certain magic about the hotel, particularly at the festive period, and just looking at the name above the door makes me smile.
There is no where else I would rather spend Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day if I were to deviate from the normal and spend it at my parents, so if like me you will be in your own home Claridges have ensured they can come to you. With larger than normal Christmas gift selection that will make any one beam, here are my favourites…
Claridges Christmas Crackers – £75. Containing a groan-inducing joke, an anecdote of hotel history and a gold or silver crown as standard, as well as surprises imcluding a mother of pearl caviar spoon to a smart leather bookmark and of course a crested Claridge’s eggcup.
Large Christmas Pudding – £55. Lovingly made following a century-old secret recipe, the traditional pudding contains all of the usual ingredients and is made in the Claridges kitchen.
The Mews Hamper – £150. The lowest priced hamper, it contains an indulgent selection of goodies which are served at the hotel such as biscuits and chutney.
The Mayfair Hamper – £795. Nothing says luxury than this hamper which contains a superb selection of wine and champagne, coffee, a Claridges panettone, shortbread, chutney and jam, a copy of the cook-book, a candle and a Claridges teddy bear. Cute. The two items I really would like? The set of 4 mugs and the Claridges cooking apron.
