It has landed! After a short wait after the official announcement, the Mr Porter x Gucci collaboration collection arrives today on the eponymous website. The 43-piece capsule collection, designed exclusively for Mr Porter, is inspired by urbanism and self-expression, rooted in classic tailoring silhouettes and eccentric sportswear – a true combination of the two brands. The exclusive capsule collection is across ready to wear, shoes and accessories and infuses Gucci’s rich textures and fabrications in a vivid colour palette of zesty oranges and yellows, azure blues and bordeaux reds. On the website, it is sectioned into ‘Animal Motifs’, ‘Sportswear’ ‘Statement Prints’ and ‘Tailoring’.
The brand has seen a huge revival, tapping into the ever-present athleisure and self-expression trends, signifying a monumental shift in the way in which we view the brand. Love it or hate it, Gucci will never be the same again; targeting a new and younger consumer which although were present under past creative directors, sheds a new light onto the fashion industry.
As this exclusive capsule collection is an exemplary union of Mr Porters’s traditional English tailoring roots and Gucci’s Italian romanticism, it culminates in an offering where all of the pieces are anchored in a lightness in spirit and eccentricity. This is huge news for Mr Porter, so expect to see a lot of features online and in print, as well as on social media – and expect to see a superb film shot on location in London called ‘The Keys’.
