Woven Cotton Shirt - WAS £218 NOW £85

What with lasts weeks incredible weather reducing many guys to wear just shorts and a polo, this week sees us going back to 'normal'. What better way to progress to a late summer wardrobe than with PRPS Goods & Co, the topic of this weeks sponsored post for Cocosa.

New York-based luxury denim brand PRPS Goods & Co was created as a more affordable alternative to PRPS’ mainline, without compromising quality or aesthetic. The yarn is acquired in Africa and then woven in small batches using an old shuttle loom.

Designer Donwan Harrell loves the imperfections that come out of using old machinery. The result is vintage-inspired designs with a classic American feel that you can see from the images here. PRPS Goods & Co stays true to the brand’s legacy and offers garments made with an selection of Japanese pieced goods finished with elaborate detailing. PRPS Goods & Co is designed and crafted with extreme quality, while each garment is reminiscent of authentic vintage inspiration, which is relevant to today’s desire for functional, purposeful and innovative clothing.

adidas Originals x London 2012 Olympics

Last month, whilst I was in the many corners of Europe for the Men's fashion events, I was sent a piece of history by adidas originals. It is also very apt that this post comes the day of the London Olympic games, for whom adidas is the official sportwear sponsor Olympic 2012.

This year marks the 40 years since the iconic three-leafed logo, the Trefoil, was introduced. As such, the Dasler family - since 1972 - deciced that all products that bear the Trefoil represent the values of authenticity, creativity and originality. Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Trefoil, adidas originals introduced a limited-edition watch, which was limited to only 500 timepieces worldwide, with 50 in the UK. Each dial is hydraulically stamped to showcase the Trefoil, and the limited-edition numbering is displayed on a plaque mounted to the left side of the watch case.

Wishing Team GB all the best of luck, and I hope you enjoy the games whilst I am on holiday in Sitges, Spain. Going for gold with adidas originals, I hope our Olympians can do the same for the UK.

Clarks Originals x YMC SS13

Yes; two of the UK's most respected brands, Clarks Originals and YMC, have come together for Spring Summer 2013 to produce these two pairs of great shoes. They were featured in the YMC show at the London Collections: Men in June, as well as one of the stars of Pitti Uomo in Florence soon after.

With Clarks Originals commitment to heritage and style combined with YMC's playful approach, I am very lucky to already own Edmund Must (top) and Edmund Create (bottom) in these classic colours. Dropping in Janurary next year at around £70, they both have a variety of colourways including Edmund Create's cobalt blue, vibrant chillie red, muted dark brown and classic cognac (above) and Edmund Must's great dark brown (above) or the lighter cognac.

Bosideng Store Launch London

If, like me, you cut up South Molton Street from New Bond Street to Selfridges, you will have no doubt noticed the new building, similar to the Flatiron in New York, being constructed for Bosideng. Covered in sleek, black signage, I have long wondered who they are and what the brand is like. Yes, a quick Google would have done the trick, but it would ruin the suprise.

However, the Chinese heritage brand have released a film prior to the launch on Thursday 26th which has been directed by filmakers Jamie Delaney and Keith Nally, based on the AW12 campaign imagery. Extreme slow-motion footage of landscapes, birds in flight and the clothing range were used to capture movement in extreme detail and bring the whole story to life. The film is supported with sound commissioned from The Famous Eno, that captures the fusion of east & west cultures.

Crafted to perfection, Bosideng will house a new premium collection of classically designed clothing with a commitment to quality and innovation. Utilising some of the world’s finest materials, the collection showcases a mix of clean lines, casual shapes and luxury sport, influenced by traditional British tailoring, found both in the craftsmanship and materials. Fusing Chinese and British cultures, the brands heritage in down is enhanced by introducing English tweeds mixed with technical nylons.

Cocosa: b store

This weeks sponsored post by Cocosa, the incredible sale e-tailer, is launching b store's SS12 collection on Wednesday (25th July) from 6am. Having the brand on the site is a great mark of excellence as b store is one of the UK's hottest brands, as well as one of my favourite.

Speaking of it being one of my favourite, I have the double breasted jacket above and the t-shirt below which I got a couple of months ago full price - but you could get the same at up to 56% off. The brand really is about classics with a twist that you can see; taking the stunning soft linen jacket, with the white button details which takes the heritage with the new.

If you have not heard of the b store before, who are a great British brand, they exploring a singular vision, offering a modern and accessible concept throughout its eponymous clothing, shoe and accessory collections. To be individual, confident and define its own unique aesthetic that transcends trends, b store offers a unique and creative proposition for the modern consumer, distinctly different to the world of branded luxury.

Designed in-house by its co-owners, the b store clothing collections represent classic style with a modern edge, and ultimately, the perfect completing items of your wardrobe. With this all in mind, they do a superb collaboration with Liberty London, the famed London department store that focuses on its unique prints - so can you grab not only a piece of b Store but of one of the UK's hottest print stories?

Remember, up to 56% off from b store from Wednesday 25th on Cocosa...

Wrangler Launch

A good few weeks back, I was kindly invited to a gifting suite where I was allowed to run riot in a Supermarket Sweep style event (not quite but I always wanted to go on the show) with a Mojito or three. One of the brands I connected with was Wrangler, who have just relaunched their website, from which this teaser video is from to launch the new season. With great weaves and fabrics, the story of the interactive site sees two very attractive people escaping from the city to the tranquil countryside. Quite apt for the next few weeks ahead, no?

Energie AW12 - Make Noise

Since fashion began, it has gone hand in hand with music as both an expressive and complimentary duo. One brand, Energie has focused more on the music side of their AW12 campaign that almost makes the goods come secondary - but in a really good way. They have captured the urban feel of the brand with a new campaign titled Make Noise fronted by UK band Rubber Kiss Goodbye.

The Energie campaign presenting a new means of expression through dress that is fully reflective of Energie’s identity to stand out from the crowd. The Make Noise collection presents a mix of black and white urban-style graphic t-shirts that are not for the faint hearted and a denim collection synonymous with the cutting edge British indie scene.

Rubber Kiss Goodbye are proving to be one of the UK’s hottest new bands around, consisting of Tara Ferry, son of English singer, musician and songwriter Bryan Ferry along with other band members Oliver and Peter. Energie also appointed the Swedish photographer Alex Lindhal to follow the band in their natural environment where they live and work, capturing their every move. In turn resulting in a range of retro black and white campaign shots reminiscent of backstage scenes of indie-rock groups on tour, identifying and exalting the spirit of the collection, for an independent and unmistakable style that goes beyond mere seasonal trends.

Smith-Wykes AW12 and SS13

One of the less favourable things about Pitti Uomo is that, falling at the beginning of the menswear season, great designers such as Smith-Wykes can get lost in the following Milan and Paris shows. Though one of the great things about Pitti Uomo is that designers, such as Rory Wykes, approach you and make you aware of such gems in menswear. Rory approached me at an evening event by chance, hearing my name from close-by and decided to introduce himself over some delicious Italian nibbles and Prosecco.

Smith-Wykes is formed of Mr Smith and Mr Wykes. Rory has a menswear background having worked for the likes of iconic outwear brand Baracuta and smart tailoring label Carven. Whilst Michaell, originally from New York now living in Paris, brings a business edge as well as keeping his eye on the creative arts.

There is a great amount of passion and attention to detail that has gone into this SS13 collection, as has in this seasons (well, AW12 - it is quite wintery outside) above in the great short video. With a focus on the the sports-luxe, a key trend for 2013, driven from the urban city gent and grass-roots inspiration from this summers sporting events, it ticks all the boxes. The soft cotton shirting in washed vibrant shades paired with techy fabric shorts or a large-stitched knits, every piece has its own relevance and purpose in a storming collection that is a visual delight.

This was no doubt one of the highlights from the enormous Pitti Uomo show, as well as Capsule in Paris, so I will leave you with their statement...

DRIVEN BY SHARED VALUES OF CREATIVE INDEPENDENCE AND GENEROSITY
OF SPIRIT, WE CREATED SMITH-WYKES AS A CELEBRATION OF CHARACTER.

WE ARE ROOTED IN THE BELIEF THAT MEN’S CLOTHING SHOULD WORK
TO COMPLEMENT, RATHER THAN OVERSHADOW, THE INDIVIDUAL.

BASED IN LONDON AND PARIS, WE APPROACH EACH COLLECTION WITH OUR
SHARED APPRECIATION OF WIT, MUSIC AND CHARACTER.

WE STRIVE TO TRANSLATE THIS INTO AN AESTHETIC THAT IS MODERN,
MASCULINE, REFINED AND DETAIL-FOCUSED.

Cocosa: MA.STRUM

This weeks sponsored post by Cocosa is something very much needed in this current British weather, which is closer to tragic than anything. After going through two flooded roads on Friday and being caught in the heavy rain this afternoon, MA.STRUM jackets are going on sale this Wednesday (18th July) with up to 60% off. We have already had nearly two months of awful rain, with it set to continue so this is possibly the smartest SS12 collection item you will buy this year.

Cocosa are selling their SS12 collection and the jackets are all made from high the fabrics making them wind/rain proof and, most importantly, lightweight. Whilst waxed or quilted jackets are quite on trend at the moment; so is simplicity and the neutral or green colours that MA.STRUM offers here. I am quite taken with the green two-pocket jacket below, as well as the light-weight techy blue piece.

The prices for each jacket were around £350-400 and will retail on Cocosa at £120-160.

Topman LTD AW12

After the great success of the Topman Design, Californian inspired, SS13 collection at the London Collections: Men this AW12 collection is a storming offering. The first trend that Topman LTD is showcasing is the Correspondent, which is based on the explorer and anthropologist aesthetic. The trend references early 20th century cultural icons such as Leonard Woolf and Arthur Ransome, where the look also borrows heavily from the arts and crafts movement. Wood block prints like those used on the early book covers of the Bloomsbury Press are key to creating this more organic, hand crafted approach to design. This is mixed with simpler, utilitarian styles and garments like those used for travel and exploration in the first half of the last century. The scientific study of birds and animals is also a strong influence on print stories in this trend. I adore the all over butterfly print shirts which are teamed with tweed overcoats, 3-piece slim fit suits that are worn with bold patterned shirts and utility style jackets which are complimented with heritage style knitwear.

Arriving in stores and online on the 24th July, I almost feel compelled to go follow in the foot-steps of Charles Darwin.

Collective Noun SS13

Oddly, this post has quite a link to the one below as the blonde model, Jelis from Nevs agency, in this lookbook for Collective Noun also worked the same job last week in Brighton.

Don't let his Danish charm detract from the shots as this detail focused collection holds strength in this current climate of not only over saturation of heritage inspired menswear but also the economic one too. Collective Noun is an exciting new brand providing gentlemen with a classic look and style that will stand the test of time. Their cuts have a tailored feel to go with the high quality fabrics procured from mills in the UK and the majority of the manufacturing is done in traditional English factories to the highest of standards.

Founded in 2012 by Sam Dormer, this naturalistic look book for their debut collection is entitled 'Murder of Crows' - which for those that don't know is the Collective Noun for a group of the black birds.
