LFW AW12 DAY 4 (My 2nd)

Yesterday was quite a busy day around town, fitting various appointments and events into the Monday. My first stop was to Urban Outfitters on Oxford Circus to see the new Spring Summer 12 drops of favourites YMC, Carhartt and their own brand, Shore Leave.
The offering in store is really fresh with a street style aesthetic which speaks volumes in terms of the way 2012 will be going - relaxed, urban and spirited. I picked up a few pieces and will give you a more comprehensive insight later on so keep watch!

My second trip of the day was the the wonderful 'OO' platform, which mean's night in Estonian, at a store unit in Berwick Street, Soho. Housing only three designers, all from Estonia and two with a background in design from Scandinavian institutes. These three are from Magnus Loppe, which look at the constructions of work wear in their purest sense, and the shoes from Kaspar Paas, who has taken lasts from an Estonian village archive to complete his collection.

Then lastly is Marit Llison who was at the platform and I sat down with her to get the back story on her collection.

'The collection is a story of a brotherhood made up of 7 men, who have come to earth to prepare for the cultural shift we will see. I think fashion has to change as there is too much waste'. Talking about the current state of menswear and the fashion industry in general, she said 'fashion has lost its soul. The artist and the designer's soul is lost' - alluding to the financial motives of the fast fashion aspect of the industry. But for her collection, she is looking at it as 'a slow fashion platform that developed over one year, rather than two seasons a year'.

Of her pieces, she said 'I want them to be close friends and are part of your wardrobe family' and that she 'likes the minimal aspect of styling but I like the inside, the details. For example, the lining of a classic coloured suit an be very colourful and I like the self confidence clothes give  person when they expose that lining by putting it on or taking it off'.

At the Handpicked Media Bloggers Suite at One Aldwych, Ted Baker dropped in with their SS12 collection, whih I liked the melange skit, spotted short sleeve shit and quilted bomber jacket, above. I also met Alan Greenhalgh from Shine Squad who had this fanstastic Marc Jacobs necklace that he got in New York.

I also bumped into Franca Sozzani, Editor of Vogue Italia, at the Vogue Italia party in Belgravia and was gracious enough to let me take her picture.

And lastly, due to a bizarre turn of events, I was sat behind Anna Wintour at McQ, and got this great shot of the most famous bob in fashion.
