Seeing as I am away in rainy Wales this weekend, I wanted to share these exclusive and exciting images of New York based label Commonwealth Utilities upcoming collection before I go away.
Commonwealth Utilities is the dream label of friends and business partners Anthony Keegan and Richard Christiansen. Founder of the Chandelier Creative Design Agency, Christiansen brings his business experience to the labell, while Keegan, a Central St. Martins graduate presents “the idea of making men smart, sexy, and a little bit fabulous.”
Plus Vogue’s unlikeliest former intern, NY Rangers player Sean Avery, has signed up as design collaborator and marketing man.
And who said sport was dull?!
Avery seems to be embracing his new fashion career with both hockey gloves, saying, “I’m hoping that this will allow me to learn a lot about the business. I’ve taken some steps learning about other aspects of this industry and this is where’d I’d like to eventually end up”.
I really love surprises like these, and am excited to learn that Matches in London will be picking up the line, as well as Saks Fifth Avenue, Odin, Fred Segal and Camouflage in the U.S, Beams and Isetan in Japan. I guarantee I will be buying a piece or two.
For those in New York, the label will be holding court at the Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week on September 13th. The more I look at the simple yet edgy designs, I just think ‘damn, I’d love to go’!
