According to reports in today’s Daily Mail, Helmut Lang is close to axing it’s menswear line. Quoted via Vogue a source says; “It doesn’t make sense anymore to make men’s for Helmut”. “They haven’t shown a formal collection in five years, and Link Theory has a big retail plan for the company that’s centred mostly on women’s collections.”
Link Theory is a Japanese holdings company that bought the label in 2006, a year after its last menswear catwalk show.
“As a whole, the Helmut brand has promise,” the source added. “We’re optimistic, but men’s is just not part of the picture any longer.”
